Here's the thing nobody tells you about the Statue of Unity: the statue is not really the main event. All 182 metres of Sardar Patel are the hook. What keeps 58.25 lakh people coming back every single year — that's the record the site set in 2024, per official state figures — is everything else around it. The jungle safari. The boat ride. The laser show. The Valley of Flowers. Treat this as a full-day destination, not a photo stop, and you'll understand why it's India's most-visited monument.
Where it is and how to get there
The statue stands in Kevadia (Ekta Nagar), Narmada district — about 90 km from Vadodara and roughly 200 km from Ahmedabad.
- By train: Kevadia is now connected by direct trains from Vadodara. If you're coming from Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata, get off at Vadodara and take the connecting train or a cab.
- By road: Ahmedabad to Kevadia takes about 3–3.5 hours by Innova or bus. From Vadodara it's under 2 hours. This is the route most of our guests take.
- By air: Vadodara airport is the closest, then a 2-hour drive.

Ticket prices in 2026 (get this right, it's confusing)
There is no single "Statue of Unity ticket". You buy each experience separately, and it adds up fast for a family.

My honest advice after multiple visits: take the Express combo (₹850). It saves you roughly ₹200 versus buying the pieces separately and covers the three things actually worth your time. Book on the official site 7 days ahead and grab the first morning slot — Kevadia is at its quietest before 10 am, and the observation deck has a daily cap of around 5,000 slots, so weekends sell out 3–4 days early.
Note the statue is closed on Mondays.
What to actually do there (most people only do #1)
1. Viewing gallery at 153 m — you're at chest height of the tallest statue on Earth. Worth the ₹380 just for the Narmada view.
2. Valley of Flowers — 300+ plant varieties along the riverbank. Walk it in the morning when it's cool.
3. Jungle Safari — yes, Kevadia has one, with a separate ₹80–₹200 ticket. Kids love it; don't skip it if you're travelling with family.
4. Narmada boat ride — ₹30 for a 45-minute cruise to see the statue from the water. Cheap and calm.
5. Laser & light show (₹30) — the statue lit up at night is a different monument altogether. Stay if you can.
6. Sardar Sarovar Dam viewpoint — 5 minutes away, the second-largest dam in India.
Cost of a realistic day trip
For one adult doing the full combo with transport from Vadodara, lunch and parking, budget ₹1,200–₹1,500. A budget overnight trip runs ₹2,500–₹4,000 per person; mid-range ₹6,000–₹10,000. If you book a packaged tour, this is already bundled — which is honestly the less stressful way to do it.
The one mistake everyone makes
Treating Kevadia as a half-day pit stop. People arrive at 11 am, see the statue, and leave missing the safari, the boat and the light show — then say it was "okay". Come early, do the gallery first, and give it the full day.
